Sitting In The Dark…

23 02 2010

Okay, so it’s a bad play on words.  And the picture quality is terrible, but I thought it would be cool to film in the dark under a street lamp…

And as I sat in the dark in my car last night and filmed this video blog, I was completely in the dark as to whether or not my clients would prevail in their multiple offer situation.

There are tougher jobs in the world than being a real estate agent, but it’s not easy to sit around and wait to hear your clients’ fate…

Basement Rental Income

22 02 2010

For any first time buyer, the idea of renting out the basement for $800 per month to help pay the mortgage sounds like a fantastic idea!

But when you rent to that long-haul truck driver who won’t pay his rent and won’t leave, then you’re in trouble.

The one thing that buyers never consider: the legal ramifications of the basement apartment…

Pop The Cork!

19 02 2010

That’s me.  And that’s a bottle of 1998 Dom Perignon.

One of my readers who uses the moniker DaveyTheJ dropped this bottle off at my office last week as payment for a “bet” that we had made on the blog in 2008.

And this explains what my blog is all about…

What A Joke!

18 02 2010

At the risk of being black-listed by developers in the real estate industry, I’m going to tell you what I think about the “special broker’s preview” that took place on Tuesday at Sync Condos.

It was a freaking joke, and I can’t believe I expected anything different…

No Sense!

17 02 2010

Egad!  This makes no sense!

This condo down the street from me has been “FOR LEASE” now for a total of three full months and the seller/landlord has yet to reduce the asking price.  The condo is vacant and he is losing money.

Let The Games Begin!

12 02 2010

For the next seventeen days, I will be working from my home office, aka my couch.

Once every four years, we are treated to the greatest spectacle in all of sports: the Olympic Winter Games.

I truly believe that the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver will help Canada gain more worldwide notoriety than it has ever had before…

Get Real!

11 02 2010

I was working on a lease last week and I received the most bizarre offer that I’d ever seen!

It was full of these ridiculous clauses that I can’t believe an agent or a lessee would include in today’s hot market.

Seriously…..get real…

Bad Advice!

10 02 2010

Everybody and their mothers are going to give you advice when you let it be known that you’re buying real estate.

So who do you listen to?

Call me naive, but my answer is obviously, “Just listen to your real estate agent.”

8 02 2010

The Regal Constellation hotel on Dixon Road is now boarded up and scheduled for demolition.

The surrounding area is full of hotels, all trying to avoid the same fate as the former-landmark, Regal.
