Show’s Over, Folks!

10 03 2010

Yesterday, I did something that I haven’t done in over six years.

I know, I know - the door is wide open for some jokes.  I walked right into that one, but I’ll leave you guys to it…

So what did I do for the first time in six years yesterday?

I paid a parking ticket…

Pay The Toll!

11 12 2009

I had an interesting debate in my office yesterday about whether or not Toronto should institute a “no car” rule in the downtown core like London, England.

While I agree that the traffic is out of control, and I’d personally LOVE to see less of it, I have another idea.

Bring toll booths to Toronto!

The Amazing Race!

13 11 2009

No, I’m not talking about that silly reality television show that for some reason is still on TV…

I’m talking about the 2010 Municipal election which will hopefully pit George Smitherman against John Tory.

Nothing says “Friday” like a good political debate!

“Affordable Housing” In CityPlace….Go Figure!

3 11 2009

I was beginning to think that maybe, just maybe - I was wrong about CityPlace.

After a colleague of mine received five offers on her awful listing at Mariner Terrace, I reconsidered my stance on the evil concrete jungle.

But alas, the latest news that a 42-storey “community housing” project will be built in the heart of CityPlace has reaffirmed my stance that this will eventually be a complete ghetto

Toronto’s First “Car-Free” Condo

14 10 2009

This article first appeared in The Toronto Star last month, but the idea behind the project is gaining some momentum.

Plans for a 42-storey condo with ZERO parking spaces are underway, and the cyclists must be coughing up lube-oil in excitement!

Hooray for planet earth!

Miller Time!

2 10 2009

The clock has almost struck midnight on David Miller’s tenure as our city’s evil overlord, and the news this past Saturday that he would not seek re-election in 2010 came with rave reviews!

Let’s count down Miller’s top five faux-passssss….

Sad Silo Sight

29 09 2009

Good news from City Hall….for a change.

The City of Toronto has abandoned a plan to turn these God-awful silos into a museum, and instead will raze the site which serves as a massive eyesore for residents of 650 Queen’s Quay.

So will our outgoing mayor, His Uselessness David Miller, give us a beautiful greenspace?  Or another condo…

‘Union Monopoly of the Public Sector’

21 07 2009

As a follow-up to yesterday’s post about the garbage strike, I’d like to share this fantastic article by Gwyn Morgan from The Globe & Mail that appeared in Monday’s Report on Business.

While I strategically voice my opinions in the form of a cynical, sarcastic rant, Mr. Morgan offers a more in depth look at how our various levels of government grant public sector monopolies that set the table for strikes and union strifes like the one we are currently forced to endure.

Have a read…

My Take On Toronto’s Garbage Strike

20 07 2009

Controversy!

I’ve never been one to shy away from it, and this time around I can’t help but feel that most people would agree with my thoughts and opinions.

Come to think of it, is there anybody who agrees with the striking workers at this point?

What The Heck Is A “Bike”?

1 06 2009

Have you heard of one of these mechanical contraptions?  Apparently, it has two wheels, no engine, and doesn’t require gasoline!

Wonder-mayor, David Miller, has once again changed the landscape of our city with yet another controversial initiative.

After discussing the new bike lanes on Jarvis Street, I’m going to recommend my top five candidates to replace Mr. Miller…
