Photo-Shop!

10 08 2010

Let’s pick up where we left off yesterday - taking a look at miserable, awful, terrible MLS photos!

I’m constantly amazed not only by the terrible photos that are put onto MLS, but also of what people take photos of!

Have a look…

Phantastic Photos

9 08 2010

After writing Friday’s blog post in which I outlined ways that sellers and agents can be cheap, it occurred to me that terrible photos is a blog post unto itself!

Contrary to popular belief, real estate does NOT just sell itself, and you might have to put some work into it!

I think it starts with the very basic: photos.

Here are some very choice photos…

Private Rooftop Terrace!

4 08 2010

Here is a video I shot back in April that fell through the cracks.  For a self-described “terrace lover,” I have no idea how I didn’t immediately post this on my blog!

This is truly a one-of-a-kind condo in that the unit has it’s own private terrace, which just happens to be the roof of the entire building!

“Sex Sells. No, Wait, Maybe It Doesn’t…”

23 07 2010

For years, developers have used sex and lifestyle images to sell real estate, but some industry insiders say it doesn’t work and are calling for a more genuine approach.

This article first appeared in last Friday’s Globe & Mail

Cool Pool!

21 07 2010

Here comes some hypocrisy!

I’ve never been an advocate of superior amenities in a condominium, and I always maintain that I would never use the gym, billiard room, golf net, bowling alley, or swimming pool.

But my last couple trips to 33 Mill Street and the new 33 Charles Street have led me to believe otherwise…

“Rooftop Pools Making A Splash”

20 07 2010

For the last couple months, I’ve had this draft of a blog post about “new age” condominium pools sitting half-complete in my WordPress dashboard.

And then The Globe And Mail goes and does an entire article about rooftop pools in new condominiums like 33 Mill Street and 550 Wellington!

So here’s what I’ll do: today I’ll post the article, which was first published a couple weeks back, and tomorrow I’ll add in my thoughts and recent experiences…

Getting In On The Ground Level

19 07 2010

What do you think about living on the ground floor of a condominium?

It certainly comes with its pros and cons, and while some people actively seek it, others would be vehemently against it.

This goes beyond a question of value; it’s a question of personal preference…

Beating Them To The Punch

15 07 2010

The early bird gets the worm, right?

So if you suspect that the seller is going to reduce a property in price, doesn’t it make sense to act before they do so, as if they’d already done so?

I thought it makes sense.  But the greedy sellers out there don’t see it that way…

“Boutique” Condos?

8 07 2010

What defines a “boutique” condo?

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?  Is this a selling point, and does it add value?

Some boutiques are special, and others are just full of discount crap like this:

Maple Leaf Square

6 07 2010

Tomas Kaberle for Devin Setoguchi?  Straight up?  That’s a dream!

Wayne Gretzky is coming out of retirement to play for the Leafs?  That’s great news!

Oh, yeah - and there’s also these two massive condominiums that just opened outside of the Air Canada Centre, brought to you by the good folks at MLSE…
