Selling REZEN By The Pound IV

30 10 2009

In August of 2008, one year since I had taken occupancy of my unit at Rezen and a mere four months since final closing, a unit sold across the hall for $265,000.

The unit was larger than mine, but it still got me asking myself, “I wonder what I could get for my unit…”

Selling REZEN By The Pound III

29 10 2009

“Second week of February,” said the sales person from Rezen when I asked for the ninety-fourth day in a row when the building would be registered.

“If we’re not registered by then….cut my throat…..my word to God’s ears!”

That was the single strangest prayer I had ever heard…

Selling REZEN By The Pound II

27 10 2009

Pat-Pat-Pat went my hand on my own back as I prepared to take occupancy of my new condo at Rezen Condominiums in August of 2008.

But before I could move forward, there was a ton of work to be done and very little time to do it!

If you think “picking up the keys” is all that is required, think again…

Selling REZEN By The Pound…

26 10 2009

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I sold one of my investment properties at Rezen Condominiums.

I promised to provide full disclosure of my experience, so this week I’ll be detailing the entire process from start to finish in what will be a four-part series of posts.

Let’s start from the very beginning…

The Meaning of “Demeaning”

23 10 2009

My colleague’s boyfriend told her that his perception of her job is that all she does is “drive around, talk on her phone, go look at furniture, and get paid to do it.”

Yeah….something like that.

This business isn’t all fun and games, and like many jobs in many industries, it can leave a bad taste in your mouth at the end of the day.  Like the following experience…

The Disparity Between MLS & Realtor.ca

21 10 2009

I have a whole section about this on the front page of my blog, but I’d like to discuss this from a different angle.

There are two major issues that are on my mind, and as usual, one of these can be directly attributed to the questionable ethics of a fraction of Realtors out there…

What The Heck Is A “Den”?

20 10 2009

I’m of the mindset that the term “den” has come to mean absolutely nothing in the condominium world.

These “dens” have been slowly shrinking in the past few years to the point where you can barely fit six pairs of shoes in your “den.”

Let’s take a look at what passes for a “den” these days…

Implications For Condos of the HST

19 10 2009

It’s been widely speculated that most condo-owners don’t quite understand how the new Harmonized Sales Tax will affect their monthly maintenance fees.

I recently came across this great explanation by John Warren who writes for “Condominium Manager Magazine.”

Only cool people like me subscribe to “C.M.M.”….

The Dumbest Thing I’ve Ever Seen

16 10 2009

If you own a television, chances are, you’ve seen the commercials for both Dollars4Gold and Cash For Gold.

I cringe each time I see these advertisements.

Not only because there are people dumb enough to mail their valuables to complete strangers, but also because I didn’t think of the idea first!

Toronto’s First “Car-Free” Condo

14 10 2009

This article first appeared in The Toronto Star last month, but the idea behind the project is gaining some momentum.

Plans for a 42-storey condo with ZERO parking spaces are underway, and the cyclists must be coughing up lube-oil in excitement!

Hooray for planet earth!
