New & Old In Little Italy

12 05 2009

I’ve seen an increasing number of renovated houses for sale in Little Italy in the past few months; some of the renovations were good, some were bad.

The neighborhood hasn’t seen as much turnover as other downtown hot-pockets like Cabbagetown in the last decade, and many homes are coming onto the market for the first time.

Many of these have also been renovated by first-time renovators…

Top Ten: Signs of A Student

11 05 2009

There is nothing worse than showing your client a house or condo which is currently being rented by a student.

“Tenant” and “student” are often thought to be interchangeable, but I believe there is a difference between a 21-year-old girl renting a 1-bedroom condo near University of Toronto, and a 42-year-old businessman on contract in Toronto for two years renting your investment property on Wellington Street.

Renovation Nightmare(s)

Is It Hot In Here? Or Is It Just Me?

4 05 2009

Eighty-one degrees.

That was the temperature in my bedroom when I woke up on Sunday morning, thanks to the property manager in my building who has yet to switch the heating over to cooling even though it’s MAY!

Some buildings in Toronto have a user-controlled heat pump, others have a central one controlled by the building.

Let’s explore…

Opposites Attract

1 05 2009

No, this story doesn’t have anything to do with George Clooney.  I just thought that picture was funny!

This is an unbelievable story about a condo my clients were in negotiations to purchase, and didn’t…

…because the exact same unit in the opposite tower came onto the market that very night…
