Listing of The Day: District Lofts!

31 08 2007

Back to the one-word name theme: District.

Remember the days when lofts were named as such because they were authentic conversion from industrial or commercial spaces?

Then along came the fad whereby you actually construct a loft from the ground up, leaving concrete floors and walls and exposed ductwork to give it that lofty-feel.

Is there any difference between the real thing and the new fad?

Sex & The City…..of Toronto…

30 08 2007

People will do anything for a thrill…

A few weeks back, I read an article in the paper about an incident at a Toronto open house on weekend.

The listing agent, at about 4PM, was closing up the open house, and heard footsteps upstairs.  He went to the upper level and found a couple having sex in the upstairs bedroom!

“House Humping” seems to be a growing trend, now that “The Mile High Club” has lost it’s lustre.

Here are my top three sex-related real estate stories…

(reader discretion STRONGLY advised!)

Going, Going….GONE!

29 08 2007

My watch must be broken.

My internal clock on my laptop as well.

And my desk calendar—-the one made from paper, well that one is, um…broken.

I’m pretty sure it’s the week before Labor Day, typically the slowest time in real estate!

Don’t tell that to the four agents that last night, got their clients 130% of list price or more…

Listing of The Day: 319 Merton Street

28 08 2007

What’s in a name?

319 Merton Street is a beautiful building, but what’s with the name: Domain?

Is this in reference to “domain”—a synonym for dwelling, abode, domicile, residence, house?

Well, we all know that one-word names are all the rage for condos these days. And five years from now, nobody will care what the building is called.

Hey, it’s been five minutes since I first looked at this listing and I already don’t care!

Mortgage NIGHTMARE!

27 08 2007

Ever have one of those experiences where you think everybody in the world is crazy except YOU?

What do you do to remedy the situation?

Even worse, what if this situation involves money!

Your money!

Listing of The Day: 43 Baby Point Cres

26 08 2007

“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.”

This famous quip normally refers to judging the interior negatively based on the sub-par exterior.

Be careful here, however.

Sometimes, the book may have a great cover and even the “About the Author” reads well. But the content of the book is scary as hell…

It could ALWAYS be worse…You could be living in Manhattan…

24 08 2007

Yesterday, I get a call from a new “client,” that asks me for help finding her a condo.

She requires a 1-bedroom unit of over 1000 square feet for about $250,000.

Funny.

Because I require Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel to have an impromptu fashion show in my condo living room…

We don’t always get what we want…

Listing of The Day: 80 Mill Street

23 08 2007

If I had to pick one area of the city where I would both: a) invest, b) live, it wouldn’t be a tough decision.

I may have invested in a condo near the Drake Hotel on Queen West, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

Five years from now, I expect The Distillery District to be Toronto’s hottest locale.

And prices are still affordable….for now…

Who Doesn’t Love Travelling??

22 08 2007

Arrrrrgh!

I’m so frustrated right now.  Airplanes, airports, stewardesses….er….”flight attendants.”

If only I had some sort of forum to express my current level of discomfort…

WAIT!  I have my very own blog!

This may not be about real estate, but here goes anyways…

Listing of The Day: La Floresta!

21 08 2007

Not since a Toronto cab driver offered me and my friend Greg twelve acres of vacant land in Ghana, Africa for $6,000 U.S. have I found such a deal on international real estate!

Since it’s my last day in Mexico, today’s listing of the day is a quaint 3-bedroom house in Ajijic, Mexico.

Un que reparto! Lanzaron en todo pero el fregadero de la cocina!
